Sam Miller has spent her entire life creating art. For the last 15 years she has been honored by local communities and private institutions for her murals, painting, sculpture, and photography. She also teaches hundreds of elementary school students each year how to unleash the artist in themselves while teaching teachers how to make art a powerful tool for change. She fervently believes that everything is “artable.” Much to her mother’s chagrin, Sam even turned her car into a mobile canvas.
Sam’s most recent collection weaves family stories, memories, and ancestral offerings onto fabric. These commissioned wall hangings capture the simplicity and complexity of each family’s life through the use of multi-dimensional art. More specifically, Sam uses a combination of realistic and abstract painting, digital photography, linoleum block printing, etching, embroidery, bead & metal work, and quilting to design each piece.
Family stories live in all of our hearts. They are the fabric that holds us together. It is Sam’s passion and her gift to create a visual home for them.
